SUMMER CAMP 2019
SUMMER CAMP 2019
For many people summer camp has been a transformational week where they have met Jesus in a personal way that has impacted their lives for years, decades, and even for eternity. Because God has used summer camp in such huge ways in the life of students (and leaders) we have been asking over the last 6 months, if God would want us to prioritize and put more energy into making summer camp a more impactful part of the LBC Youth Ministry. As we began praying, God began doing things in and around us that fanned into flame the idea that summer camp could become not only a highlight of our year, but a springboard into the next season of ministry that Jesus is leading us into. One of the opportunities God provided for us was to use Castaway Camp in Minnesota. Castaway is a marvelous camp with great accommodations, incredible food, and some amazing entertainment options. Castaway is a Young Life camp that usually is booked all summer with Young Life groups that come from all over the United States, but this year Castaway had an opening the first week in June and they are excited for us to rent out their camp for the week to run our own camp program.
At this camp, we will have the amazing opportunity to partake in a variety of different activities including: rock climbing, zip line, giant swing, sailboat, archery tag, gaga ball, outdoor and indoor basketball courts, frisbee golf, crystal clear water to swim in, kayak, hot tubs, and even hammocks to lay out in on the sandy beach. Not only are the activities amazing, but the amenities of this camp are even better! This will be an experience students will remember forever.
...but honestly, that’s not the biggest reason that we are excited about this new opportunity. We are excited to be doing something that includes LBC Youth Ministry as a whole, together. In a culture that constantly screams individualism, LBC Youth values unity, we are better together. We believe that the next season of ministry will be marked by growing together as one ministry, serving one God, and helping other students know the one Savior. There is no better way to be together than take over an entire camp with all of our people.
Gathering together, escaping the distractions of day-to-day life, having a ridiculous amount of fun together, diving into God's word and worshipping Him with all our hearts as one unified body, will make this week truly “the best week of your summer”.
We would love for you to come on this adventure with us! This website should give you all the information you need, but if you have specific questions, please contact us at email@example.com! We have a spot for you, will you take it?

7. Where is camp?
a. Castaway Club is nestled in-between 2 of Minnesota’s beautiful 10,000 lakes in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. For more information on the Camp, follow this link to their website: https://castaway.younglife.org/Pages/default.aspx
8. Who will lead the program?
a. Castaway Club is a Young Life Camp that leases their property out to other entities for camps, retreats, and get-aways. During the summer months, Young Life Camps are used exclusively by Young Life groups from around the nation. This special and unique opportunity has opened up so that we will be able to have exclusive rights to the camp for the first week of the summer! LBC Youth will be in charge and responsible for all of the programming that takes place. We are extremely excited about this opportunity to invest and lead our students this summer!
9. What can my student do for fun?
a. At this camp, we will have the amazing opportunity to partake in a variety of different activities including: rock climbing, zip line, giant swing, sailboat, archery tag, gaga ball, outdoor and indoor basketball courts, frisbee golf, crystal clear water to swim in, kayak, hot tubs, fire pits, sand volleyball, soccer, indoor game room (with pool tables, shuffleboard, and a dance floor), gift shop to buy some swag, buy treats on the beachside snack shack, crafting, and even hammocks to lay out in on the sandy beach.
10. Can my student request roommates?
a. Your students will have the ability to request ONE roommate when you register. We will do our best to accommodate requests. We put a high priority on keeping small groups together the best we can.
11. How can I contact my student?
a. The best way to contact your student during camp will be to contact the LBC staff member who will be the point person for communication during camp week. The phone number will be given out at our camp meetings. Camp is such a great time to unplug from the business and distractions of life. We believe that when we take a step out of our comfort zone into the unknown, Jesus shows up in some pretty sweet ways. That being said, we will be having, and enforcing, a no phone policy while at camp. We encourage all students to leave their phones at home. However, we will also be collecting all phones on the bus as we are in route to camp. We will keep them safe, but once again we are not responsibility for any damaged or stolen electronic items that did not get checked in.
12. Will I be able to send my student a care package?
a. Absolutely! Students love receive encouraging messages from friends and family while at camp. We do ask that you be conscientious of what you include in your care package. We love to have fun, but also want to respect the camp property, other people, and other people’s stuff. If something is sent that we feel violates that, we reserve the right to hold the item(s) until after the camp is finished and we have returned to Lincoln. Thanks for understanding! The address to send packages to is: LBC Youth (NAME OF STUDENT(s)) 51709 County Highway 31, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.
13. Can I drop my student off or pick them up early for camp?
a. We believe that camp is impactful for students. Jesus does show up in ways we sometime never expect. We are asking that students ride the bus to camp with us, stay the entirety of camp, and then ride home with us on the bus. This being said, we know that there is sometimes a special circumstance so if that is the case, please call the youth office and talk with a staff member.
14. Can I volunteer?
a. We are always on the search for world class people to be a part of what God is doing in LBC Youth Ministry. If serving at camp interests you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will then be sent a brief application to fill out and an LBC Youth Staff member will be reaching out to you.
15. What if I have additional questions? Where can I ask my additional questions?
a. Great questions! :) Feel free to email email@example.com with any additional questions you may have! From there, your question will be directed to someone who will help you!
